La Salle hits the bull's-eye!
SEVEN long years of championship drought. In these seven tiresome years, you have five straight bride'smaid finishes. Any lesser man would have given up for long, thinking that the "curse" is there for eternity. But the 1998 La Salle Green Archers are not exactly, lesser men.. Once again, they tried to shoot for the title unmindful of the "runner-up scourge that has beset them for five long years in the Universities Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). 

This time, they finally hit the mark.Facing a foe that refused to go down quietly into the night, La Salle needed a late magical burst of firepower from Ren-Ren Ritualo to pull off a pulsating 63-59 victory over Far Eastern University and capture the 61st UAAP men's basketball cham- pionship before a throng of wildly-cheering supporters at the Araneta Coliseum. The title romp, kicked off by a massive 72-47 victory by La Salle in Game 1, was La Salle's third championship in the UAAP counting its titles in 1989 and 1990 with a team backstopped by now PBA pros Zandro Limpot and Noli Locsin.
