PBA Selection squads defeat Chinese national team

32 years ago, the Chinese national team went up against two PBA selections headed by long-time imports Norman Black and Bobby Parks. The Chinese had a solid lineup that featured Sun Jun, Wang Fei, Sun Fengwu, Ma Jian, Zhang Yong Jun and Song Ligang. In their first game, they lost to the PBA Dark Selection led by Black and Robert Jaworski, 95-94. Black scored 28 points, followed by Allan Caidic and Ramon Fernandez who chipped in 14 points each. Manny Victorino also added 10 points. It was a physical game that saw the Big J and Black experiencing bloody cuts. In their game against the PBA Light team led by Parks two nights after, they lost, 104-94. Ma Jian and Zhang didn’t play in that game as there were reports that the Chinese were worried to see Coach Ron Jacobs in the sidelines scouting them.
