Note : THE country's oldest and most prestigious amateur cage league -- the National Collegiate Athletic Association-- - opened its 76th season with big bang before a full-house crowd at the Araneta Coliseum last July 22. This year's host, Mapua Institute of Technology, provided the pomp and pageantry with the theme "Living the Tradition, Building For Tomorrow." If you missed the affair, let's take a peek some of the highlights of the opening festivities, shall we? NCAA has tapped the services of Media Conglomerates Incorporated (MCI) headed by Tim Orbos and Anthony del Rosario as its sports and management arms. MCI will be responsible for the coverage of the games as well as the airing of the grand opening ceremonies on PTV-4. Vea said it's brand new logo best describes the league's vision to turn universal as depicted by the halo encircling the NCAA insignia that also includes the plan of airing its games in the Asia-Pacific Region through the international sports channel ESPN. Though the plan of airing the games on ESPN was originally set for next year, the league officials also had kept their promise to take their part in nourishing the league that was for sometime had been left behind by its rival amateur tournament.
