"But that's understandable. I was playing forward. We had a lot of good players then. Aside from Allan Caidic, we had Godofredo Lim Uy. George Ella, and Rowell Entona among others. I was the tenth man in most of our games and coach Mariano only used eight men." With the graduation of several stars, David Zamar has moved on to become a first stringer. Not only that, he has shifted from forward to off guard position. "The change has turned out advantageous. Now, I have more playing time. The UE Warriors always practice with PBA champions Great Taste Coffeemak ers and in those skirmishes, David match es skills with the established PBA superstars. Of this, David says, "I've come to a point wherein I'm a step higher than what 1 really dreamed of, I used to watch these stars on TV. Now, I'm playing with them. Joel Banal and Ricky Brown, among others, often give me tips on how to improve my game. I'm very thankful." On Mariano, David claims, "He's a good bench tactician. He's tops in discipline. That's why I understand why he shouts a lot at us. It's for our good." David hopes to someday play in the PBA. "Compared to Iloilo City, basketball in Manila is better. Aside from being able to hone up your skills, you also get the chance to have publicity. Over in our place, you are only known in one area. Not all over."
