FAR Eastern University-Diliman made quick work of Ateneo, 25-8, 25-11, 25-14, to seize the girls lead in the UAAP Season 87 girls’ high school volleyball tournament at the Paco Arena Sunday.

Raine Alonzo had 5-of-9 attacks and fired four service aces to finish before calling it a day in the second set to finish with a match-best 10 points for the Baby Tamaraws.

FEU-D rose to 6-1 card, as elimination round topnotcher National University Nazareth School (5-1) drew a second round opening bye.

Defending champion Adamson University and University of Santo Tomas remained in joint third at 5-2 after besting separate foes.

The Baby Falcons defeated UP Integrated School, 25-10 25-14, 25-12, with Sam Cantada leading the way with 12 points, including six aces.

Up next for Adamson is a rematch of last season's Finals against the Bullpups on Sunday, where the Baby Falcons are eyeing for a payback for their first round loss.

The Junior Tigresses, with Jai Adrao, Lianne Penuliar and Jhaliane Auxtero, each scoring 12 points, overcame a rough second set patch to beat De La Salle-Zobel, 25-17, 25-27, 25-14, 25-17.

The Junior Lady Spikers stumbled to their fifth defeat in seven matches, while the Fighting Maroons and the Blue Eagles dropped to 1-6 and 0-7 card, respectively.
