DEFENDING champion Adamson University eyes for a rebound against University of the East today (Thursday) in the UAAP Season 87 high school boys' basketball tournament at the Filoil EcoOil Centre.
The Baby Falcons are trying to move on without Tebol Garcia and Vince Reyes, who were among they key standouts from last season's title run, and the 10 a.m. clash with the Junior Warriors will be a test of character on how they will bounce back from an opening day loss.
Far Eastern University-Diliman, which took a season-opening 75-71 win over Adamson, plays Ateneo at 12 noon, aiming for a second straight victory.
Opening day winners National University Nazareth School and De La Salle-Zobel also vie for win No. 2 in the 8 a.m. curtain raiser, while University of Santo Tomas and UP Integrated School eye for a breakthrough at 2 p.m.
UE, last season's fifth placers, bested Ateneo, 88-80.
The Collins Akowe-led Bullpups turned back the Tiger Cubs, 71-60, while the Junior Archers set in motion their campaign with a 79-77 decision of the Junior Fighting Maroons.
NUNS will make its high school girls' basketball debut against Ateneo at 4 p.m. The event is returning after a five-year hiatus due to the pandemic.
