McGarry, 26, is a 6-5 center who po- lished his skills with the Far Eastern University squad. In July 1980, Chris played for the Philippine team that won the first ASEAN Schools youth title in Singapore. The 6-5 Moncada wore the colors of Mapua, San Beda, and Arellano as a collegian. Samson, another 6-5 center, is from Cavite and played for San Sebas- tian College. Ramirez, an Asian Games veteran, is a six-foot guard known for his defense and playmaking. Cueto, a 5-9 sharpshooter, is a perimeter offensive rifleman while Viray is a 6-5 swing man from Palawan whose ambition like the others, is to play someday in the PBA, a dream that for 17 rookie free agents, remains elusive.
