Just when it seemed like Romy dela Rosa would have another good season, he was sidelined by an injury at the end of the All-Filipino Conference and failed to suit up for the Turbo Chargers for the rest of the year. That certainly hurt the chances of Shell in the Third Conference and the Turbo Chargers failed to make it to the semifinals. Had dela Rosa played on until the end of the season, he would have easily made it to the Mythical second team. All numbers shot up for him as he normed 16.3 points and 4.7 rebounds, up from 14.4 points and 4.6 rebounds in 1991. Dela Rosa was a first round draft pick of Ginebra in 1989 but he failed to come to terms with the Gins and was eventually traded to Shell in exchange for Rey Cuenco. He has a younger brother named Reuben who plays for the Mapua Cardinals in the NCAA.
