ROMMEL's pro career took an early detour when, instead of joining former ballclub Tanduay in the PBA, he ended up being picked by Purefoods from the draft. The deviation turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Although he hardly impressed in 15 games with the Hotdogs in 1999, coach Derick Pumaren has shown that he may have his plans for the former San Sebastian standout.
