Gilbert Malabanan a reed-thin, long-armed forward spent a second season with the Kings and stayed around longer than more heralded contemporaries like Chester Tolomia. But he spent the year mostly on the bench, still waiting for that big break to come. Gilbert Malabanan turned out to be quite a find for someone taken in the second round 17th overall of the draft. The wiry forward who honed his craft in the PBL readily fit into Ginebra's system and showed the skills that could make him a fixture on the team as a role player off the bench.
