One of two free-agent recruits by the team after the All-Filipino Cup, Erick proved useful and helpful, readily embracing coach Yeng Guiao's brand of basketball. It's handy for Erick since it's the type of play he ate, slept and lived with Letran in the NCAA and with Harbour Centre in the PBL. He doesn't frown in a tough challenge or back down from a fight, but this doesn't mean he can't play straight basketball. Health woes prevented Rodriguez from picking up where he left off in 2009 when, as an undrafted rookie, he surprisingly averaged 7.0 points a game. This Letran alumnus sat out the entire first conference due to an anterior cruciate ligament tear suffered during the run-up to the season inaugurals. The injury ate most of Eric's sophomore year, allowing him to play just miniscule minutes in 10 games in the second conference.
