The 1976 All-Filipino Conference of the Philippine Basketball Association reeled off last Sunday, March 21, at the Araneta Coliseum, minus the fire and color, the usual trimmings, that ruled past PBA inaugural
Sadly missing were the thickcrowd and the deafening cheers from the boisterous basketball fanatics. The nine teams participating, accompanied by the Jungle Fighter Band under the able baton of Nestor Baybay, paraded with their inaugural tip-off , team captains and lovely muses. First to come out was the Seven-Up Uncolas, led by skipper Rafael Morales and muse Alma Moreno; N-Rich Coffee Creamers with Noli Aldanese and Vangie Sante; Tanduay Distillers with Ricardo Cleofas and Jane Murphy: Concepcion Quasars with Gregorio Dionisio and Carmen Ronda; Mariwasa-Noritake with Adriano Papa and Josephine Oppus; Royal Tru-Orange with Rosalio Martirez and Tonette Pineda; U-Tex Wranglers with Rudolph Kutch and Mitos Viola; Toyota Comets with Robert Jaworski and Marianne de la Riva; Crispa-Floro Redmanizers with William Adornado and Valerie Floro.

The national anthem was led by the hair-raising rendition of youthful Ariel Hermoso, soloist of the Las Piñas Boys Choir. Jaworski and Adornado raised the Philippine flag. Teams were represented at the officials' table by Enrico Villaflor, Porfirio Zablan, Domingo Itchon, Dondo Lim, Emerson Coseteng, Ignacio Ramos, Walter Euyang, Dante Silverio and Danny Floro. Francis Arnaiz, most valuable player awardee of the 1973 All- Filipino Sports Awards, led the oath of sportsmanship.
