More known for his rugged play, Efren Manila, a Batangueño, first played for Gaerlan Oil in the Interclub and the Rizal Park quintet in small-time leagues. A late bloomer, the 5-11 guard got recognition for his playing style only last year, when he made the national teams to the Pesta Sukan, ABC and SEA Games. Before this, he was a mainstay of ITM. He is the team's co-captain. In PBA, he played for Tefilin 1980-1981.
