The Coming Of Age Of Coach Nemie Villegas - Assistant Coach of 1978 World Basketball held in Manila

Last year and even up to now, critics have been uncharitable with their beliefs that Nemie Villegas,  Letran and A & W Records coach, will never make it and will just be a perrenial support to the national coach. Always the bridesmaid but never the bride, that's what coach Villegas was before he engineered Letran's fashionable clinching of this year's NCAA crown. From the looks of it, coach Villegas will be in for bigger things. "There were not so nice talks about my being assistant mentor to the national coach, Nic Jorge in 1978 
and Nat Canson in 1979. I was aware of these talks. They never affected me though. I have my own beliefs and plans," 
Villegas said in an interview before he left for the SEA Games.
