Remembering NCC Days - Elmer Reyes
1. Remembering NCC Days - Elmer Reyes
"He is one of the best penetrators in the country today and at the same time,
he can take his shots from the outside. On one-on-one situations, he is almost
unbeatable and the beauty of it is that he is a team player. When he drives,
he just doesn't have his eyes on the goal, but also looks for a possible open man.
For his size, he contributes his share of rebounds and he can also play tough defense."
From such a description, you would imagine that the player referred to is Sonny Jaworski,
or maybe Francis Arnaiz, and even Atoy Co, perhaps. Wrong on all three counts.
It was NCC coach Ron Jacobs who Was describing the player and he was referring to none other
than Elmer Reyes. Of course many would say it is but expected of a coach to be effusive
in praise of his own player, but according to Ron, he would have said the same thing of
Elmer even if he happened to be playing for another team. That's how high his regard for Elmer is.
