Remembering NCC Days - Teddy Alfarero
1. Remembering NCC Days - Teddy Alfarero
Dusky Teddy Alfarero will probably be remembered by most fans as the rock-solid center
who anchored the 1982 Asian Youth basketball championship team. He had a three-year tour
of duty in the PBA but it was largely a forgettable experience. The 6-5, 185-pound Alfarero
played for Great Taste, Alaska and Hills Brothers, leaving the PBA in 1987, then drifted to
the PABL where he saw action a few months for Agfa Color. Alfarero's once promising pro
career came to an ignominous end before he turned 30. Suddenly, big-time basketball was
just a memory. In his prime. Alfarero took trips overseas to play the game that was his
ticket to fame and fortune. He went to Bangkok, Calcutta, Kuwait, Singapore and Mainland China.
Alfarero wore the La Salle colors proudly for several years and polished his skills under
coach Ron Jacobs' watchful eye.
