ALEJANDRO LIM, JR.
Take it from farmer national coach Joe Lipa. Alejandro Lim, Jr. is one of the top five players of the PABL today. "Lim has good basketball sense. He may not be that quick but he moves well for a guy who stands 6-4," assessed Lipa. Jojo was born on August 22, 1969 to businessman Alejandro Lim, Sr. and Roberta Rosete, a teacher. He is the eldest in a brood of four which includes Cherry, Maribeth and Richard. He spent his first two years as a high school dribbler at St. Paul's High before moving to the University of Visayas on the proddings of his dad, a former cager in Cebu's Chinese league. He was first molded into a defense specialist by high school mentor Danny Duran. But with the UV seniors under Hermes Sumalinog, he was transformed into an offensive demon with pivoting as his specialty. He played three years for the UV Lancers and led his team to two CAAA championships. Last year, he was named Most Valuable Player of the CAAA. Over in Cebu, he dribbled for Agencia Grande, Mama's Love and Lhuillier. He is actually no stranger to Manila fans as he once suited up for Magnolia. Early this year, Jojo was named to the RP Junior squad that eventually finished third in the 10th staging of the ABC 19-andunder meet in Manila. He actually replaced Stevenson Solomon on the RP roster after the 6-4 Solomon skipped practices due to an injury. Incidentally, Solomon is now his teammate at Burger City.  "Nagulat nga ako nang sinabi sa akin ni Mr. Eduardo Gullas na kasama ako sa National team. Gusto talaga ni Mr. Gullas na may representaive ang UV sa RP team dahil matagal na raw wala," said Jojo. The last time UV was represented in the RP squad was in 1984 when Anthony Mendoza and Alfonso Solis made the RP Juniors squad that finished third in Seoul, South Korea. dahil may ongoing tournament. Pero sina"Balik-balikan nga ako sa Cebu at Manila got ni Mr. Gullas ang pamasahe ko," said Lim who surprised everyone by performing creditably in the ABC junior meet. Strong in the keyhole area, Jojo also has a fine touch from medium range. In fact, in the CAAA, he averaged more than 20 points a game. Over at Burger City, after the elims, Jojo averaged 9.3 points, 7.4 rebounds and 2.2 assists. He is actually the leading rebounder of the Burger Makers. "Kailangan lang siguro ma-improve ko ang weight ko dahil 160 lbs lang ako ngayon. Madali akong maitulak," said Lim. However, despite his lean frame, he still manages to effectively patrol the shaded lane.
