Note : THE usual combination of glitz and glamour greeted the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) as it opened its 73rd season at the Araneta Coliseum last August 2 with the theme, "To Get There Together." With Puerto Princesa Mayor Edward Hagedorn as guest of honor, the NCAA opening was highlighted by two down-the wire games which saw defending champion San Sebastian College eking out a 91-90 win over San Beda College and Letran barely beating Mapua in two overtimes, 76-72. And with Vintage Sports covering the NCAA cage wars on primetime every Thursday night, the oldest collegiate league in the country is bound to get better.
