Dante Silverio hosts party on 86th birthday
On the eve of his 86th birthday, Toyota coach and manager Dante Silverio will celebrate his special day with a gathering among family and friends at his Al Fresco Bar and Restaurant along Pasong Tamo Extension this Monday, October 16, 2023.
The flashy sportsman is not only a 5-time PBA champion coach but is also a champion car race driver back in the 60’s and 70’s. At present, he also dabbles into painting which, according to him, keeps him calm and stress-free.
It’s his love for sports and the arts, coupled with clean living that has allowed the boyish-looking Silverio to continuously look young and evergreen.
Silverio has invited his family, relatives, close friends, former players at Toyota and a select group of media personalities to celebrate this special event with him. Expected to grace the affair are his daughters, Chi Chi and Kit Kat. The two were also there in the recent Toyota gathering that celebrated Ramon Fernandez’s 70thbirthday and Francis Arnaiz’s homecoming.
Former Toyota players headed by Fernandez and wife Karla, Arnaiz and wife Bebe, 1976 Rookie of the Year Gil Cortez, fastbreak finisher Ompong Segura, hotshots Ed Cordero and Emerito Legaspi, enforcer Oscar Rocha, siblings Ulysses and Arlene Rodriguez, gritty big men Nic Bulaong, Ed Camus and Pol Herrera, crack guards Rollie Marcelo, Joseph Galonga among many others are expected to be there. Pasig City Vice Mayor Dodot Jaworski has also been invited to represent his father, Robert Jaworski, Sr.
The team from the hit weekend podcast, “An Eternity of Basketball” (AEOB), has also prepared a short program to honor the sportsman / artist. A video tribute will also be played honoring the life and times of the celebrant.
Of course, no Dante Silverio party will be complete without the karaoke crooning and dancing. A house band will be tapped to perform hit songs from the 50s to the 70’s while playing most of Silverio’s favorite tracks.
This will be the 5th gathering of the Toyota players in the last 7 months, starting with the 50th anniversary reunion held last February.
