RUEL Bravo surprised a lot of people when he was picked by San Miguel in the 1996 rookie draft and eventually got to play 12 games for the star-studded franchise. With its guard rotation of Franz Pumaren and Frankie Lim advancing in years, San Miguel was more than willing to try its luck on a long shot. Bravo was lucky enough to be at the right place at the right time. Bravo was hardly impressive in his debut year, averaging 2.2 points and 0.7 assist a game, but maybe good enough to hold on to a back- up guard role with a pro team.
